So, here's the deal. The CRTC in their infinite wisdom has made sure that the internet giants can make more money from us lowly customers. There is now pay per use bandwidth and we are all being charged with this due to insane use of money grubbing power from the internet giants.
If we, you and I, go beyond our threshold of bandwidth any given month we will be charged up to 2 dollars for every gig of bandwidth we use over and above what we have on our internet packages. Since the companies only spend 1 penny for every gig of bandwidth they sell, it hardly seems fair to charge 200 times what they spend.
This is where we fall into the chasm of bandwidth despair. Let pretend we have just 50 listeners who listen to FreeRocker for 4 hours a day every day of the week. We have just used 5250 gigs of bandwidth for the month. Now compared to the most common internet package (15 gigs) this seems rather ridiculous. And that's only considering 50 listeners. Now try 4 or 5 thousand at any given time. Get our drift?
Here's where you come in. What we ask is that you tell your friends about us, they tell there friends and so on and so on. We appreciate all donations, but only ask for a token donation of $1 to 5$ for each person. This isn't much. And since we are helping bands get some media attention, and helping listeners find the best new music on the planet, we figure it's an even trade.
So, come on and help out the cause and we'll keep streaming great music from incredible up and coming indie bands from across the planet.
